This chatelaine includes a pencil, a notebook with ivory slates instead of paper pages, a screw-top scent bottle, a hook, and a receptacle for a pair of now missing scissors. Shops such as Walter Thornhill & Co. on London’s New Bond Street supplied such useful accessories.
