Workbag, British, 1825–29
Silk satin, fish scales, glass beads, mother-of-pearl, and metal cord
This workbag still contains eight gold-tipped steel knitting needles. Luminous fish scales, mother-of-pearl buttons and glass beads are embroidered on to silk satin, one of the most lustrous fabric weaves. It is probably homemade.
